It is also possible to loan the unit and the vent mount to visiting family and friends while they are driving a rental car or their own car to help them get around town.
Another great advantage is its ease of use. Sure, other generic mounts are also easy to install. However, when compared to the installation of a windshield mount, it is far easier. Simply slide it into position and the work is done. For the windshield mount, reaching far forward to put the suction cup in a low enough position to provide the maximum amount of visibility is not easy.
If looking for an easy and portable way to mount an aftermarket GPS unit in an existing vehicle while providing the maximum visibility when driving, then a GPS vent mount needs to be seriously considered. No other mounting system provides the combination of ease of mounting, portability and visibility that a GPS vent mount can.
